I had a glimpse last night

of what it will be like to grow old with my sweetheart...

We were getting ready for bed, me spreading Vaporub over every inch of my neck, Jeremy plugging in the humidifier and then caking aloe-vera gel all over his sun-burnt shoulders.
"Dear, have you seen my liniment cream???"

And even though we'll both be covered in various smelly creams, and various wrinkles, and probably too tired to move or even think at the end of the day...
I wouldn't want my future to turn out any other way!

My Samuel.

Baby Boys....

Grow up so fast

One minute he's in your arms, sleeping peacefully, dreaming of heaven...

Then next, he's sitting up on his own....
smiling at you, laughing....

saying "mamma" and "daddy" for the first time

and having his first Christmas....and then, before you know it

He's six years old.
Trying new things....
Teasing his sister....

Doing the splits...

And starting school.

Where did the time go? It is too short! My "baby" boy starts 1st grade this year! 6 and 1/2 hours of other people, other places, other ideas, other experiences. I don't know whether to be happy or sad about this. But, I do know one thing: even when he's 80, he'll always be my baby!!

Yuba Lake

We took the kids camping at Yuba Reservoir for our family vacation this year! Had lots of fun.

Our first night there, we played on the beach by painted rocks. It was windy (and cold!!), but great!Abby had to wear her super cool new goggles, even though we were going nowhere near the water:

The second day we played at north beach. Nicer beach, but more crowded. Sam, Abby, and Jer built Sanderson manner, complete with mote.

Here's a closer look:

We told Sam he could stay up until the moon and the stars came up that night...while we all waited for dark, he kept us entertained with his own special brand of "So you think you can dance":

On the second day, we also took a hike down the beach by Painted Rocks, to a rock-face and some huge rocks that were all different shades of pink and red. It was beautiful next to the green-blue of the lake. The kids had fun climbing, and we had fun finding caves (even though we didn't go in any of them). I was cursing myself for not bringing the camera. We tried to go back there Sunday morning to take some pics, and this is what we found:
And I'll be darned if the Bull in charge of this herd wouldn't let us by! He kept getting aggressive when we tried to go past the herd.

So we gave up and took a picture by some smaller caves!

Then, we headed home! Short and sweet, and SO much fun!!
